How to get there

How to get to Italy: by train, plane, bus, by car

So, you are the happy owner of a Schengen visa and are ready to travel, or you have taken the advice from the article “Italy: how to open a visa to a citizen of Belarus” and are going to open it. It's time to consider an equally important moment of the trip, namely the road and the way of transportation.

Regarding the countries of the former Soviet Union, Italy is by no means our neighbor. In this regard, not everyone dares to get to it. But despite the distance dividing us, there are many ways to get to this country, each of which will be pleasant and simple depending on your preferences. Let's consider each of them.

By train

One of the most romantic ways to get around in my opinion. Suitable for those who have time, since you may need up to two days on the road, depending on the departure and arrival points. There are various options with transfers in different countries, but in this way your road turns into a constant concern: will you catch the train, will you make a mistake, will the tickets be available. Therefore, I would like to consider the only direct train that exists at the moment - TRAIN No. 17 / No. 18 MOSCOW - NICE - MOSCOW.

The train runs once a week, departing from Moscow on Thursdays and from Nice on Saturdays. Nice train makes stops in Italian cities Verona, Genoa, Milan and San Remo.

Traveling by this train you can truly get to know Europe. You are given the opportunity to enjoy a little trip on a trip. After all, you will pass through several countries and can enjoy the landscapes of each of them.

From history: the Moscow-Nice route, once popular with the Russian aristocracy of the 19th century, has existed since 1864. It was then that the first trains that ran until 1914 began to travel from Nice to Russia.

On September 23, 2010, the updated Moscow-Nice railway line was opened. He practically repeats the route connecting Russia with the south of France in the XIX-XX centuries.

The train offers 2 compartments of a restaurant and a compartment of various levels: luxury, first class, second class.

But for all this you will have to pay, and the price level for this train is quite high relative to all other modes of transportation, prices from 306 to 1050 euros depending on the class, age and number of people in the group. True, I would like to note that a comfortable trip awaits you only if your tickets are in a luxury compartment.

By plane

This type of transport is the most popular and practical. This is due to two indisputable advantages: speed of movement and low cost. Travel time, depending on the departure and arrival point, is about 2-4 hours.

The most convenient cities for departure: Minsk, Moscow, Vilnius and Warsaw.

Minsk airport offers only flights with Belavia and Lot, which unfortunately are not low cost companies, but despite this, the pricing policy has been pleasantly surprising recently with ticket prices: from 80 to 300 euros.

Warsaw and Vilnius airports offer flights with low cost companies such as Ryanair and Wizzair. Tickets cost from 20 to 200 euros.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport also offers one low cost Airbaltic company with ticket prices from 100 to 600 euros.

By bus

Not the best travel option, the cost of which is about 200 euros one way. For the amateur, it may be suitable for those who are afraid to fly by plane and do not like trains. You can find out the availability of tickets and detailed information in the travel agencies of your city.

By car

This type of transport is ideal in that the path, place and time of departure depends on you. Ideal for traveling with a company, as it gives you the opportunity to see not only Italy, but also any country in which you decide to stay, while the waste will be divided into the whole group. In order not to cross the European border on a car, it is worth considering the option of getting to one of the cities of Europe by plane, and from there rent a car, for example, on rentalcars.com and go on a trip. So you do not have to pay insurance and substantial fees at the borders.

In general, the choice is only yours and your preferences.

P.S. Buy tickets only on official sites, using the search for the best options on aviasales.ru. Always compare prices in several places. Be careful, because there are many scam sites that will withdraw money from the card, but you will not wait for a ticket. I will be glad to answer all your questions in the comments.
