In Italy, a book on female humility breaks all sales records

The new book of the Italian journalist Constanta Miriano caused an amazingly stormy and mixed reaction in the country. The publication was immediately titled by the local media as "homebuilding in Italian."

The book, entitled “Get Married and Be Submissive” (Sposati e sii sottomessa), was soon translated into Spanish, after which it simply “blew up” the whole of Europe.

As the name of the book implies, the author strongly advises and even recommends young girls and wise married women to be submissive and generous to their guys and husbands, and also gives practical advice on how the husband will like and keep him.

As a fierce believer, the Italian journalist claims that when writing her book, she relied on the Bible, her own experience and the experience of her close friends. By 41, Miriano managed to get married, have four children and build a very successful career.

The list of valuable advice of the writer is very long. For example, she offers her readers the following: “Women and men are not equal. And if you have a choice between what he loves and what you love, choose in his favor. If your husband speaks to you, listen to him as if God himself were speaking to you. ”

It was this passage that caused a stormy reaction not only from literary critics, but also from feminists who were extremely indignant at what was written. In some European countries, for example, in Spain, the text of the book even caused a series of discussions and debates in parliament.

The Spanish Minister of Health, Ana Mato, insists that the book be removed from the shelves of Miriano: “I think this is wrong. This is disrespectful. ”

Local authorities and officials felt that “Marry and Be Submissive” is a direct call for domestic violence and for mistreatment of women in particular.

Meanwhile, representatives of the church confidently declare that the ideas presented in the book, as well as the author herself in no way justify the violence of women and do not encourage it.

Miriano, however, claims that she is quite happy in marriage and sincerely wonders why such a fuss has risen around her book: “I believe that the role of a woman is to be as beautiful and good as possible towards her husband. The wife’s duty is to send positive signals to her husband, to tell him what an important place he occupies in her life and to help him in raising children. ”

Leading European publishers argue that the opinions of readers regarding "Marry and Be Submissive" diverged. Some believe that Miriano’s book is a true masterpiece, while others say that the author touched their feelings.

“After reading this book, I felt offended. I am a wife, mother, and also an excellent employee. And I would never follow the advice of the author. Initially, I thought that there was some irony in this, but I was mistaken, ”the reader writes on one of the forums.

However, the second woman, who also read the book, cannot but agree with the author: “A great book. I advise all women to read it and follow the advice of the author. I absolutely agree with them. ”
