The Russian church was built on the initiative of the Russian community by the Italian architect P. Agosti according to the project of A. From 1951 to 1977, a song festival was held in the building.

The “ancestor” of San Remo was the ancient settlement of Matutia, founded by commander Guy Matucius in the 1st century BC. In the 7th century, Matucius preached Christianity and helped people, the Bishop of Genoa, Romulus. During his lifetime, he was counted among the saints. The Austrian Empress Sissi, traveling around Europe, visited San Remo several times. She was attracted by the mild climate and beautiful landscapes of these places.
